PulseHealth
HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform serving 50k+ monthly active users — connecting patients with providers through secure video visits on iOS and Android.
The challenge
PulseHealth needed to replace a patchwork of third-party tools with a unified patient experience. Their existing web-only flow had high drop-off before appointments, and clinicians struggled with unreliable video on mobile browsers.
Every feature — scheduling, messaging, prescriptions, and billing — had to meet HIPAA standards while feeling as polished as consumer health apps patients already used daily.
Our approach
We designed a patient-first mobile experience in React Native, sharing one codebase across iOS and Android. Native video SDK integration ensured stable calls on variable networks, while end-to-end encryption protected PHI in transit and at rest.
A clinician portal on Next.js gave providers a desktop workflow for charting and follow-ups. We partnered with their compliance team through BAA reviews and penetration testing before public launch.
Results
- Appointment completion rate increased 34% after native app launch
- 50k+ MAU within six months of App Store release
- Zero PHI incidents through first year of operation
- Clinician onboarding time reduced from 2 hours to 25 minutes
